Cleansing 101 (The Do’s and Don’ts)
Wash Your Hands
It seems simple enough but for the love of skin – wash your hands before you cleanse! We do not need any extra bacteria being rubbed into your skin.
Cleanse for 30-60 Sec
Yep, you read that right, 30-60 seconds, no quickies when it comes to cleansing. Why you ask? It takes roughly 30-60 seconds for the ingredients in your cleanser to penetrate your skin and actually do their job. Otherwise, there is really no point in you using a cleanser at al
Cleanse Everywhere
We tend to just scrub our face in the main areas and forget about the rest. Make sure you are cleansing close to your hairline, near your ears and your neck.
Watch The Temp
Wash your face with cold or, if you must, lukewarm water. Hot water strips your skin of its natural oils, causing your skin to produce extra sedum leading to breakouts!
Look At The Ingredients
As with hot water, using a harsh cleanser can also strip your skin. Use a mild cleanser that removes grime without stripping your skin dry (i.e. our clean slate cleanser).
Airdry Your Skin
What? Don’t dry your face with a towel? You must think I am crazy. But before you judge, hear me out. After you have cleansed, you have water left on your face. What does water equal? Hydration. Pat the leftover water into your skin (it will absorb, trust me) and then continue applying your products. This will also help lock in moister plus avoid transferring bacteria from your towel (these really are breeding grounds for bacteria – think of a public toilet seat – yuck).
