Damaged skin barrier? Let’s fix that
What is it?
Your skin is made up of several layers which all have their own roles. The skin’s barrier is the outmost layer. Its main role is to keep the good things in and the bad out (think of a bodyguard for your skin). When your skin’s barrier is at the top of its game, it keeps water in your skin leaving it calm, hydrated, smooth and dewy.

How to repair and strengthen your skin barrier
Use Gentle Products! Using products with harsh ingredients is just a no go in general. If you skin is not feeling soft, calm and hydrated after your skincare routine you should be throwing those products in the bin (like yesterday).
Stop Overexfoliating! Give your skin a break. Don’t exfoliate for at least two weeks. Once your skin is feeling calmer, slowly start reintroducing it back into your skincare routine by exfoliating once a week. You should also stay clear of manual exfoliators (scrubs) as these can cause microtears in your skin. Opt for a gentle chemical exfoliator.
Wear Sunscreen Everday! Yes, every day, even when you are indoors or when it is a little cloudy outside. Sunscreen is one of our best protectors against environmental damage.
Look for the Right Ingredients! You should be looking for skincare products whose ingredients mimic that of your natural skin’s lipids (oils).
