How to get the most out of your products
Read the damn instructions
It seems pretty simple, but you would be surprised how many people don’t actually read the instructions. For the love of skin, please do read the instructions (seriously, read them).
Exfoliate at least once a week
Once you reach your 20’s, your cellular turnover beings to slow down. And it just keeps going from there. This means you start getting more dead skin cells stuck to the surface of your skin (yuck). These dead cells create a physical barrier that prevents any serums and/or moisturisers from being absorbed into the skin. Exfoliating removes these dead cells so they can penetrate deeper into the skin.
Apply Your Serum/Moisturiser To Damp Skin
Apply your serum/moisturiser shortly after cleansing your skin whilst your skin is still damp (and I mean like moist, not dripping with water). This is because your skin absorbs more readily when the skin is already damp. An extra benefit of this is that it gives your skin extra hydration, which your moisturiser can lock in place.
Apply your products a good hour before bed
You have just applied your 7 step skincare routine (and an expensive one at that), and then you lay your freshly nourished skin onto a pillow. Depending on the pillowcase you are using, chances are your pillowcase is absorbing this product (yep, all that hard-earned money down the drain) (ok, that was a bit dramatic, but I mean, am I wrong?). Try applying your skincare a good hour before you hit the pillow. Really give your skin the chance to absorb the products and nutrients.
Store your products correctly
There are many ingredients in skincare products that can break down easier when exposed to certain factors, such as the sun. Although these skincare products are normally in bottles that protect against this (well, if they are a brand worth your money, they should), it is safer to keep your products in a cabinet. This gives less chance of exposure to environmental factors, giving you the most use out of your products.
